Low Barn / Three Bay Barn

IBuilt in 1860 - always had horses on the bottom and hay on the top. Some speculation there was a stage in the upper part for barn dances - maybe wishful thinking.

Elevated workshop that may have been used for primitive housing for farmhands.

Maintain the original interior timber structure. Never had a hay rail installed - typically that would cut the center beams. Never happened on this farm so the structural integrity was maintained. Hay shoots never removed - original structures in place.

ILook at barn structures historical in Illinois.

Retrofitted for animals … goats and chickens.
